ABOUT
Tina Connolly (she/her) writes fantastical stories for kids, teens, and grown-ups. Some of them are serious and some of them involve flying bananas.
Her stories and novels have been finalists for the Hugo, Nebula, Norton, Locus, and World Fantasy awards.
Her novels include the Ironskin trilogy from Tor Books, the Seriously Wicked series from Tor Teen, and the Choose Your Own Adventure Glitterpony Farm. She has published nearly a hundred stories and poems in venues such as F&SF, Tor.com, Beneath Ceaseless Skies, Uncanny, Highlights, Spider, and a selection of them are collected in On the Eyeball Floor and Other Stories from Fairwood Press. She has also written a number of interactive fiction games.
Her narrations have appeared in over a hundred audiobooks and podcasts. She co-hosts Escape Pod, which has been nominated for multiple Hugo awards and the Ignyte award. She runs the intermittent Parsec-winning flash fiction podcast Toasted Cake.
She is a graduate of the speculative fiction writing workshop Clarion West and the CSSF Novel Workshop with Kij Johnson. She has taught at the six-week Clarion West Workshop, the University of Kansas's CSSF YA Novel Workshop, Portland's Literary Arts, and the Willamette Writers Conference, among others, and mentored for Queer Kidlit, SFWA, Clarion West, and many more.
She grew up in Lawrence, Kansas, but now lives with her family in Portland, Oregon, in an old house on a hill that came with a dragon in the basement and blackberry vines in the attic. She has two medium-sized children who help her think up the flying banana jokes.
